Take a tour of Harry’s Garage Shop
We are constantly asked,
“What size shop do I need?”
“Can I operate out of my garage?”
“How should I lay out my shop?”
“What equipment do I need?”
To answer those questions, let’s visit
Harry Wilk’s garage shop where he has operated
his Eureka Producer Program for over five years.
As Harry says, “it’s tight, but I
have managed to produce thousands and thousands
of dollars in Eureka furniture during the last
five years in this small shop. It’s been
great fun and I look forward to building more
and more furniture in the future.”
Harry’s shop is 22 feet X 25 feet with
an 8 foot ceiling. He utilizes basic woodworking
tools to produce the Eureka Furniture. That includes,
contractor grade table saw, chop saw, 14”
band saw, router, sander, etc. His major upgrades
include a Woodmaster 26” drum sander and
a Delta Sanding Center, all made possible by the
profits Harry generated in his garage shop. Click

& Equipment needed.
Let’s take a tour.

2. A view from the door of the garage which
shows the Delta Sanding Center; table saw
and rear wall of garage where tools are stored
for easy use. Note the large out feed table
for the table saw. It is actually the full
length of the table saw and fence table; 4’
X 8’. You also get a very good view
of the tube sander attachment on the sanding
station. It is a very good tool for shaping
parts after being cut on the band saw. |

Note the in feed and out feed tables used
to hold the western red cedar steady for easy
cutting and the compressor area stored underneath
the bench. The bench is designed to provide
good storage and all of the walls are used
for storage including easy access to the precision
cut templates. |

4. Continuing along the South wall of the
shop take note of the two stage vacuum, more
precision cut templates and tool storage.
The vacuum has a splitter which allows it
to be connected to multiple tools reducing
the effects of airborne dust. |

5. The Woodmaster 26” 5 HP drum sander
eliminates almost 75% of the sanding time
required on all parts. Notice the gated splitter
on the vacuum system. |

6. The west wall of the shop contains more
tool storage above another work bench which
is also full of storage drawers and cabinets. |
| 7. The north wall of the shop
contains all of the portable equipment on
casters including the router table, band saw,
planer, double head flap sander and jointer.
All are put on casters so they can easily
moved out into the shop for use and back against
the wall, out of the way so there is plenty
of free floor space to work on the Eureka
furniture lines. |
